Roof overview at the start of a storm damage inspection in Fort Worth, TX
Every chalk mark on this roof is a problem the homeowner can now see. On a second Fort Worth roof this week, our inspector walked each slope, marked damaged shingles and roof vents in chalk, and checked whether the eave shingles were still sealed down.
Wide shots from the ridge put every slope on record before we work in close.
Box vents and turbine vents take a beating in DFW storms. Damaged vents get an X in chalk and a close-up photo.
Each damaged shingle is marked where it sits, including along the eaves and gutter line, so nothing gets lost between the roof and the report.
We lift the edge of the shingles by hand to see if the seal strip is still holding. Unsealed shingles are what wind peels off next.
One last pass down the slope before we climb off. The homeowner gets the full photo set.
