Hail Damage Roof Inspection in Heath, TX: 10+ Hits in One Test Square

10+ hail hits in a single 10×10 test square. That is what our inspector chalked on this Heath roof, then he checked the turbine vents, chimney flashing, roof metal and even the A/C fins before climbing down.

Insurance adjusters look at hits per 10×10 square. We mark the square, count every hit inside it and write the count right on the shingles: on this slope, 10+ hail hits and no wind damage.

Hail hits on the shingles

Each hit is circled in chalk so it shows up clearly in photos. Look for the dark spots where the granules were knocked off.

Vents, flashing and roof metal

Soft metals dent before shingles do, so they are the easiest proof of hail size. We found and marked dents on the turbine vents, a vent cap, the chimney counter flashing and the metal flashing.

Beyond the roof

Hail does not stop at the shingles. The A/C condenser fins were checked too, along with gutters, downspouts and window screens around the house.

Final check

One last pass over the hips and ridge before we climb down. The homeowner gets the full photo set to use with their insurance claim.
