Roof Leak Inspection in Murphy, TX: From the Shingles to the Stain

A water stain on the drywall is where a leak shows up, not where it starts. On this Murphy home our inspector worked from the top down: shingles, vents, flashing at the brick, the attic decking, and finally the stained drywall.

Wide shots of every slope and valley come first, so we can see where water collects and runs.

Vents and pipe boots

Roof penetrations are some of the most common leak sources in DFW. Each one is checked and photographed.

Flashing at the brick wall

Where a roof meets a brick wall, the flashing has to send water out and away from the wall. We check every section of it.

From the attic

Inside the attic we look at the underside of the decking for water trails, staining and rusted nails that point back to the source.

Where the water showed up

Finally we photograph the damage inside so the homeowner can see the full path from roof to drywall.
