Back on the large roof replacement in Waxahachie, TX. After day one took the old roof down to clean decking, today the crew worked the valleys: leak barrier, metal valley flashing, and new shingles tied in.
Leak barrier in the valleys
Valleys carry more water than any other part of a roof, so they get extra protection. The crew ran GAF StormGuard leak barrier down each valley over the decking before any metal or shingles went on.
Metal valley flashing
Next, metal valley flashing was set down the center of each valley, with each piece lapped over the one below it so water always runs over a seam, never into it.
Shingles tied into the valleys
With the metal in, the crew started laying new shingles up to the valleys, cutting them back so the metal channel stays open and water drains straight off the roof.
Flashing where roof planes meet
This roof has a lot of intersecting roof lines, so the crew also flashed the spots where one plane meets another before shingling over them.
