Our crew started a full roof replacement in Rockwall, TX this morning. By midday the old roof was off, the whole roof was re-decked, and the valley metal was going in.
Protecting the property first
Before tear-off, tarps went down around the house to catch old shingles, nails and scrap decking, so the yard and landscaping stay clean.
Tear-off and new decking
Under the old shingles this house had the original plank decking. Rather than shingle over gaps and aging boards, the crew sheathed the entire roof with new OSB decking, giving the new shingles a solid, even surface to nail into.
Valley metal and materials on site
With the deck done, metal flashing is installed in the valleys, where the most water runs off the roof. The GAF shingles and accessories for the job are staged on site and ready to go on next.
