Roof slope at the start of a hail inspection in Rowlett, TX
10+ hail hits in one 10×10 square. This Rowlett roof told us everything. 🔍
Our crew walked this Rowlett roof slope by slope, chalk-circling every hail hit and marking a 10×10 test square that came in at 10+ hits. We also checked the turbine vent, pipe jack flashing, the wood trim and flashing where the roof meets the wall, and the gutters.
Every inspection starts with a look at the whole slope before we get down to individual shingles.
Inside a 10×10 test square we count every hit. This one marked W=0 (no wind damage) and H=10+ hail hits, and we found shingles with exposed nail heads too.
Soft metal shows hail first. We chalked the dents on the turbine vent, checked the pipe jack flashing, and tallied 5 pipe jacks and 2 exhaust vents for the report.
Where the roof meets the wall, the wood trim is weathered and the flashing has a gap. That is a common spot for water to get in behind the wall.
Gutters get checked too, since dents there help confirm hail size and direction.
